AI - DEA: mentors from FLUTE participate at the 100 high-school students hackathon
The FLUTE project recently marked an important milestone in educational outreach by organizing a successful hackathon in Forlì, Italy. The event brought together 100 high school students from "Fulcieri Paulucci di Calboli" in mixed-gender teams.
Students were challenged to develop AI-driven solutions addressing pressing healthcare needs, such as improving access to oncology treatments for patients in remote or underserved areas. Supported by expert mentors from IRST IRCCS and industry partners, participants tackled complex, real-world healthcare problems and proposed creative solutions.
This initiative is a vital step in promoting STEM education and raising awareness of AI’s potential in healthcare. The winning team will attend a week-long summer school in July 2025 at Gradiant in Spain, where they’ll gain hands-on experience with AI and healthcare technologies.
This event is a significant step forward in the FLUTE project’s mission to inspire young talent and foster future innovation leaders.
